In preparation for our Mother's Day show highlight of offering junior equitation classes, we will be hosting a practice equitation show on 19 February 2012. This is an opportunity for juniors to show off their wonderful dressage seats and gain constructive feedback on what to work on for the upcoming show season. Because this is just for practice, no prizes will be awarded, but competitors will receive feedback.
Classes Offered
See the USEF dressage equitation judging guidelines and dressage seat score sheets for complete details. In summary, riders will be judged on the following: 1) seat and position - are the shoulders/hips/heels aligned? are heels down, shoulders back, elbows bent, hands upright? is the rider in balance? 2) how the rider gives aids (this is to evaluate the beginnings of effectiveness of the aids) - does the rider yank on the reins to turn? does the rider squeeze too much with the legs? 3) knowledge and accuracy of school figures - is a circle a circle? does the rider know the touch points? 4) overall impression - is the pair dressed appropriately for competition? is the ride harmonious? |
